Essential Labor Rights in Ecuador 2025: What Every Quito Worker Should Know

Sep 29, 2025 | Labor Law

Knowing labor rights is essential for any worker in Quito. In 2025, Ecuadorian legislation establishes minimum conditions that guarantee fair and balanced employment.

The maximum working day is 40 hours per week, spread over five days. This seeks a better balance between personal and professional life. The unified basic wage (UBW) for this year was set at $460 , ensuring a decent minimum income for those who work full-time.

Regarding breaks, every worker is entitled to 15 days of paid vacation for each year of work, a necessary opportunity for physical and mental well-being. Added to this are the tenth salaries : the thirteenth, which is equivalent to an annual salary divided into 12 parts, and the fourteenth, equivalent to a unified basic salary. In addition, employees receive profit sharing , a percentage of the company’s earnings, distributed equitably.

These rights not only protect workers, they also strengthen trust between employees and employers. Knowing them and applying them correctly is key to avoiding labor disputes.
